The question of this week explored whether or not art is actually important in today’s world. I had the great opportunity to talk to Savannah. We had to think about what to say at the beginning but afterwards, we got deep into the conversation and talked about not only how art can be functional in architecture but also how art can be meaningful to people in so many different ways. To one person, a piece of art may not hold much glamor but to another person, that piece can hold a large amount of significance in their heart. In an architectural sense, art can act with purpose because it can be a building, which might have a signature shape or texture. Over time, it can hold many memories for people when they visit it. These works of art can hold meaning in these memories that people attach to them in addition to how the pieces may touch them on a personal level.
